The article analyses the problem of the Sakha (Yakut) people’s native language preservation and its development in the context of globalization. The success of solving this issue is largely determined by the quality of teaching the native language in educational institutions. The results of scientific and methodological research on the educational prerequisites for the productive teaching of the Yakut language as a native language to modern children who are bilinguals are presented. The ways and methods of creating a favourable environment for teaching the native language, as well as methods and techniques of teaching it in the context of global changes in people’s lives are identified. The introduction of multimedia educational technologies into teaching methods was determined as didactically significant prerequisites for the preservation and development of the Yakut language. Moreover, it highlights teaching in the context of the material and spiritual culture of the people, teaching the native language to Russian-speaking Yakut children with the use of “return” method and the development of textbooks for the Russian language based on the sociocultural background of pupils. In addition to that, the basis of the socio-cultural environment of students and the use of integrative technologies for teaching native, Russian and foreign languages are identified.
