Differentiation of rural areas of the Republic of Buryatia by sustainability of social, ecological and economic development

The article differentiates rural areas according to indices of social, ecological and economic sustainability. We have singled out groups of rural areas with high, medium and low levels of social, ecological and economic development. The development of rural areas within the boundaries of Central Ecological Zone of Baikal Natural Territory is constrained by legal framework, which place significant restrictions on economic activity. In the study, we have used comparative analysis and economic-statistical methods, the information base are data from the Federal State Statistics Service. For sustainable socio-ecological and economic development of rural areas in the Republic of Buryatia, it is proposed to develop and implement social technologies aimed at improving the living standards and human capital quality. Our conclusions and recommendations can be used by authorities when improving the system for comprehensive assessment of socio-economic sustainability and when developing programs for socio-economic development of rural areas.
