Differential diagnostics of purulent, inflammatory tubo-ovarian complexes and ovarian cancer

We examined and operated 102 patients with "acute abdomen" symptom hospitalized to the inpatient gynecology department of the Regional Clinical Hospital following emergency visit with provisional diagnosis of circumscribed peritonitis with the evidence of tubo-ovarian complex. However, intraoperatively 18 patients were diagnosed with ovarian cancer, 64 patients were diagnosed with purulent tuboovarian complex, and 20 patients were diagnosed with inflammatory tuboovarian complex, which resulted in different surgical and post-surgical treatment.
