A differentiated approach to analyzing the influence of marine resource use efficiency on the socio-economic development of coastal territories

The article substantiates a differentiated approach to analyzing the influence of the efficiency of marine resource utilization on the socio-economic development of coastal territories. Based on the theoretical and methodological foundations of systems theory and spatial economics, coastal regions are examined as complex aqua-territorial systems characterized by a multi-level structure, heterogeneity of natural conditions, and differentiation of economic activity. Empirical studies conducted on the coastal regions of China have made it possible to identify the phased nature of the spatio-temporal dynamics of the “green” development efficiency of the marine economy, as well as to establish the key factors determining its transformations: the level of economic development, environmental regulation, and the capacity for scientific and technological innovation. It is shown that the agglomeration of marine industries exerts a heterogeneous influence on the high-quality development of the marine economy depending on sectoral affiliation and regional localization. The necessity of considering geographical and geopolitical factors, including thalasso-attractiveness and cross-border interactions, in the system of coastal zone management is substantiated. The prospects for integrating marine spatial planning instruments into the development strategies of coastal territories are identified.
