The issue is based on the fact of an efficient methodological approach to the research on megalopolis social space. Public space is the area of interpersonal communication generating significant social statements. The actor-network theory and the concept of space of flows present this phenomenon in the aspect of changing the goals and the nature of social practices that produce it. The approvals of social extinction of the public sphere and removal of citizens from public life are considered. Several types of social practices are analyzed to show a tendency to strengthen the hedonistic orientation of social behavior and a deviation from general goals in the behavior of the individuals. At the same time, on the basis of new town-planning and architectural decisions in the post-industrial city, public spaces of a new type are formed. The latter determine and develop the unity of cognitive and hedonistic practices to promote the creation of new communities. These types of spaces are also constructed in the media space possessing the properties of openness, procedurality, and multidimensionality.
