The article considers the dynamics of occupational morbidity in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The methodology of the study is presented by the assessment of the occupational disease rate for the period 2005–2019. We also used a secondary analysis of sociological data in the study of regional characteristics of self-assessment of the health of personnel engaged in work with harmful and dangerous working conditions. A steady trend of reducing occupational diseases in the Russian Federation and the republic was revealed. The largest number of cases of this disease was recorded in mining and manufacturing enterprises. At the same time, the results of sociological studies indicate a low self-assessment of the health status of employees of organizations with harmful and dangerous working conditions. In order to resolve the existing contradictions, it is necessary to rethink the existing methodology for identifying occupational diseases, as well as to develop measures aimed at increasing the interest of employers and staff in ensuring occupational safety and maintaining health.
