The article is devoted to the issue of the role of the discipline "Foreign" language as a factor of overcoming the "clip" thinking in the modern generation of students. The article describes the factors of clip thinking, both negatively and positively affecting the achievement of educational goals in the modern learning environment. In addition, the article offers practical approaches to the methodological organization of the process of teaching a foreign language, taking into account the psychological characteristics and educational needs of modern students, contributing to the development of critical and analytical thinking and aimed at leveling the negative manifestations of clip consciousness.
