Legislative norms are considered, on the basis of which it was possible to bring judges to disciplinary responsibility in the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th century. The emphasis is on the Law of 1885, according to which the status positions of judges in terms of their irremovability and independence, established by the judicial reform of 1864, were significantly limited. -executive power to maintain law and order by tough administrative measures, the unpreparedness of all judges for the liberal structure of the judicial system.
