The dogmatic system of Andreas Theodorou

Бесплатный доступ

The article provides an overview of the dogmatic system of Andreas Theodorou, Professor of the Theology Department at the University of Athens. Its content is consistently presented on the basis of his work Le Essence of Orthodoxy , as well as other numerous works. It is also evaluated in comparison with the works of Christos Androutsos, Panagiotis Trembelas, and other theological works of the time. It is noted that Theodorou tried to maintain continuity with his predecessors, but at the same time he borrowed important topics related to the deification of a person in the process of his salvation and to issues of mystical theology from the patristic tradition and contemporary authors. He strove to present the doctrine of the Church in popular form, therefore his dogmatic works are mostly written in a simple language accessible to all. Theodorou did not have the authority that his predecessors Androutsos and Trembelas acquired, but he played a role in the development and popularization of modern theological thought in Greece.
