Additional professional retraining as a perspective in the Russian education system

The article deals with professional retraining as an educational stage in the system of modern professional education in Russia. The historical prerequisites for emergence of the professional retraining` phenomenon are explained in detail, after that shortcomings and problems are shown also. The competitive advantages of retraining program compared to the master program ones. The legal regulation of professional retraining is described as well as proposals for standardization are put forward.
