Literal translation vs conveying the sense

Бесплатный доступ

The article discusses the features of literal translation as one of the subtypes of full translation. The possibilities of using literal translation when transferring text from one language to another without distorting the meaning are highlighted. Using dictionary equivalents without taking into account the context can lead to an erroneous translation and even to a misunderstanding of the entire text. The article presents the results of a study devoted to the practical use of literal translation by students of a non-linguistic university. Recommendations are given for improving the translation performed with the help of online services.
