Pre-trial cooperation agreement on drug trafficking cases: typical investigative situations

The article is devoted to the study of pre-trial cooperation agreement as an effective tool in combating organized crime in the sphere of illicit drug trafficking. On the basis of the analysis of official statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, investigative and judicial practice, five typical investigative situations arising at the initial stage of investigation with the possibility of making a pre-trial cooperation agreement are identified. The proposed options of their resolution contain various tactical methods of interaction of investigative bodies with suspects (accused) aimed at inducing them to cooperation. The author comes to the conclusion that presented algorithms for inducing suspects (accused) to cooperate if skillfully applied will considerably improve the results of the activity aimed at detection and investigation of the offences in question.
