Trust as a concept in the context of a cultural approach

Бесплатный доступ

The author emphasizes the heuristic nature of the cultural approach, which, due to its interdisciplinarity, allows one to consider those aspects and perspectives of the phenomenon of trust that remain outside the research field of other humanitarian areas. Gaining the status of a concept, trust can be considered at any historical and cultural stage, which allows revealing its semantic space and transformation by comparing it with the previous and subsequent periods. The author retrospectively traces the formation of the term “trust”, starting from A. de Tocqueville and M. Weber to his contemporary researchers, including p. Shtompka and F. Fukuyama. The correlation of the semantic space of the concept of “trust” with the current sociocultural context, due to the existing value system in society, is shown. Despite the active transformation processes in modern society, the duality of “good - evil” and the concepts of “solidarity” and “value” should be attributed to the structural components of the concept of “trust”.
