Drandsky Copy: on the History of Studying the Tale of the Appearance of Icons on Sinichy Hill

Researchers have discovered 25 copies of the Svyatogorskaya Povest’ (The Tale of the Appearance of Icons on Sinichy Hill). However, the monastery description prepared by hegumen Ioann (Mazya) in 1899 testifies to his use of an unknown copy of the ancient chronicle. The Drandsky copy discovered now as part of a leaflet describing the Svyatogorsky Monastery in 1912 is precisely that same unknown monastic copy of the monument which was used by the hegumen. The article is devoted to the history of the study of the texts of the ancient tale and to the analysis of the 26th copy discovered nowadays.
