The article focuses on the analysis of such a part of Hegel’s "Philosophy of Spirit" as "Anthropology". Contrary to the prevalent view, according to which the philosopher’s system eliminates the spheres of sensuality and unconscious, the author tries to reveal the fundamental duality in human existence as it was understood by Hegel. The author believes that despite the free spirituality and rationality, following his naturalness and finiteness a person embraces an ineradicable possibility of being alienated into the sphere of immediate sensuality, or the soul.
