The article provides an overview of the monograph “Traditional Russian Spiritual and Moral Values in the Context of the Formation of the Legal Culture of Military Personnel: Socio-Philosophical and Systemic-Legal Aspects”. This interdisciplinary study of axiological problems in the formation of the legal culture of Russian military personnel is particularly relevant during the period of the Special Military Operation. The monograph has a clear practical focus. Its materials are of interest for the formation of legal culture and the development of the qualities of a Russian warrior as a patriot and a citizen. At the same time, the monograph contains extensive theoretical material that requires special consideration and makes it useful not only for analyzing the axiological aspects of military service, but also for understanding the value aspects of other systems of social relations. The study examines the debatable questions raised in the monograph. It is argued that an inversion of the goal stated in its title occurred in the text of the work. Traditional spiritual and moral values, instead of being the leading subject of research, acquired the status of a context for consideration, while the process of forming the legal culture of military personnel turned out to be not the context but the main subject of theoretical analysis. Particular attention is paid to the discussion of the concept of natural law, which could serve as a methodological and theoretical basis for studying the relationship between moral and legal culture.
