“School” genre movement in English dramaturgy

The article discusses the “school” genre movement in European and Russian dramaturgy. The author shows how a play with the word “school” in its title reflects the plot and a possible connection with the “school” genre. The dramatic art of "school" was constructed on reflection over daily occurrence, over those social and moral phenomena which became habitual and acquired the status of a standardization in people`s behavior. Determining by the main goal education, "school" as a dramaturgic genre addressed the form, most available to perception, - to a lesson, with all its system of methodical and pedagogical methods of influence, having elected as leaders presentation and an example. At the same time the concept "lesson" revealed in all the values from a task and the instruction to the prevention, council, and, of course, a moral lesson. The decision of the central conflict depended first of all on the level of consciousness development of the character therefore all action had a rhythm of the reflection changing speed depending on ability of the hero to express itself in this or that situation. The leading receptions of a genre are the "effects of an subtraction" and the "effects of training" for the first time approved by Aristophanes, but which finally finished the development in Molière's comedy. Conclusion. The word "school" which is taken out in heading in many respects defined contents of plays, and the concept expressed to them revealed as system of practical receptions of life.
