Double-tester estimation of inheritance of plant height in interline sunflower hybrids

The purpose of the research is to study inheritance of plant height trait in interline sunflower hybrids on CMS-basis. The researches were conducted in fields of the V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops, Krasnodar, in 2012-2014. Two maternal forms (a line VA 93 A having plant height 123 cm and a simple CMS-hybrid Kubansky 93 A having higher plants - of 194 cm) in 2012 were pollinated under the special isolator (so called sleeve) with a pollen of each from ten B-lines-pollinators. We obtained 20 experimental hybrids then tested them and their parental forms in 2013-2014 by a trait’ plant height’. The results allowed us to conclude the epistasis in inheritance of this trait is absent. In a genetic control of this trait, additive interaction of the gens plays the most important role. To regulate plant height of the hybrid sunflower is reasonably using methods of the recurrent selection for GCA, convergent improvement and cumulative breeding of lines.
