Among the part of the Orthodox world oriented towards the fundamentalist pattern, it is gaining popularity to accuse less radical church communities and pseudo-church communities of the “heresy of Cyprianism”. This term was formed after the name of Cyprian Kutsumbas, a metropolitan of one of the non-canonical Greek jurisdictions. Being a supporter of moderately fundamentalist views, Cyprian admitted the presence of grace in the sacraments performed in the churches of “world Orthodoxy”, although he treated the latter rather negatively. However, the moderate position of Cyprian not only caused rejection among fanatical fundamentalists, but also became the subject of aggressive demonization. This article attempts to analyze the transformation of the “heresy of Cyprianism” into a meme of information space. For this, it is necessary to identify and analyze the hermeneutical strategies and methods used, the transformation of changes in the semantics of concepts that are basic for the ecclesiology of metropolitan Cyprian himself, the dynamics of the semiosphere.
