Is there a future for arrest as a type of criminal punishment in modern conditions?

This article discusses the problem of the prospects for the existence of arrest in the system of criminal penalties. Having analyzed the theoretical foundations of researchers whose points of view differ in the opposite, legislative initiatives to address the issue of abandoning or excluding arrest from the list of punishments, expert assessments, we concluded that it is necessary to get rid of this measure of criminal liability, because it requires large material costs, violates human rights and is more stringent than incarceration.
