The article delineates investigation and understanding in modern human arts. The analysis of the literary text in the context of Christian tradition is an important goal for historical poetics of Russian literature. New literature studies' categories are listed that are aimed at focusing on Christian legendry implied in literature. Christian traditions experienced transformations, metamorphoses and pseudomorphoses that cannot be ignored when construing new history of the Russian literature.
