The Jewish autonomous region as a subject of the Russian Federation: history, legal status, future

An autonomous region is a special type of entity within the Russian Federation. The article examines the historical issue of the creation of this type of administrative-territorial unit, raises the question of the need to preserve this type of subjects and legislative obstacles to a hypothetical change in their status.
