The article examines the vicissitudes of F. M. Dostoyevsky's spiritual path to the “final ideal” of mankind, which he saw in Christ. There is a peculiarity of Dostoevsky's attitude to Christ: in this respect, the intimate-spiritual principle, which has a sensual coloration, plays a special role. At the same time, the ideas of immortality of the soul and salvation are of great importance for the writer. It is pointed to the connection between Dostoevsky's views with the theological historism of Joachim Florsky and the work of the Polish poet Krasinski. The reflection of the writer's complex path in his novels “Crime and Punishment”, “Demons”, “The Idiot”, “The Adolescent”, “The Brothers Karamazov” is shown.
