Autobiographical memories: factors of verbal expression

The article is devoted to the problem of the expression of autobiographical memories in speech communication. Today this problem centers around such fields of psychology as psychology of memory, personality psychology, communication psychology. The subject, who tells about his life, appeals to the content of autobiographical memory. The autobiographical memory is construed as long-term memory subsystem, which operates the memories about of significant events and states for personality. Autobiographical memory is the form of autobiographical narrative. The authors analyze such aspect of the problem as factors affecting to the autobiographical narrative. These factors include: the characteristics of subject (age, gender, ethnicity, personality traits, etc.), the characteristics of recipient (age, gender, functional characteristics etc.), the characteristics of interaction situation. These characteristics are reflected both in quantitative and qualitative peculiarities of autobiographical narrative. The authors emphasize the complexity of autobiographical memories expression, which may be associated with intrapersonal barriers, lack of vocabulary, the specificity of autobiographical memory functioning. The study of the problem is very important for practice. Relevant expression of autobiographical memories promotes personal health and psychological well-being.
