The paper aims to analyze H.G. Gadamer's hermeneutic concept in relation towards understanding the nature of artwork. To determine sufficiently what he meant by artwork is to refer to the play experience. Crucially, the categories of " performance", "contemplative experience", "spectacle", "event" and so on are significant ways of looking at this thinker's philosophy, revealing the most important aspects of play as a hermeneutic component. Therefore, it must be recalled that in H.G. Gadamer's work play consciousness and aesthetics are closely linked in the search for the truth of artwork. The conclusion is drawn that the artwork is inherently autonomous as a special reality.
