The phenomenon of carnivalization in Christoph Ransmayr's novel "The last world" (German: Die letzte welt)

The article explores the influence of the carnivalization effect on the poetics of Christoph Ransmayr's novel “The Last World”. The literary characteristics of the text are analyzed and it is shown that the novel can be treated as carnivalized literature. The importance of this literary phenomenon for disclosing the problematics of the novel is explained. The interpretation of character study in the context of carnival action is suggested, the value of archetypical characters is defined in relation to its representation within the framework of laughter culture. The role of carnivalization, disclosing the metacontextual perspective, is analyzed.
