The phenomenon of communication: social and philosophical approaches of understanding in the information society

This article examines the phenomenon of communication through the prism of modern society. Based on the analysis of the scientific literature, it is concluded that communication as a social act is being transformed under the influence of information technologies. The emerging transformations have both positive and negative potential. It proves the relevance of the research topic and the importance of its further development. An example is the so-called virtualization, which allows expanding the boundaries of communication, on the one hand, and has a huge informational impact on the participants of communicative actions, on the other hand. Sharing the positions of a number of scientists, the authors emphasize the significance of philosophical understanding of this phenomenon, as the problem of communication is among the global problems of mankind. The philosophical understanding will provide an opportunity to develop communicative strategies in order to overcome the crises of globalization.
