The phenomenon of loneliness: ambivalence of development and social fields

This article states that loneliness is a complex and contradictory phenomenon, and we should not forget about its dual nature. Loneliness can act as a determinant of deformed development, in which the process of socialization is disturbed, the formation of various layers of motivational sphere of the individual slows down, a person's perception of himself and the world worsens. But loneliness can also bring the possibility of deep spiritual development of the individual. Being a focal point of dissatisfaction with oneself and one's position, it can become a stimulus for the development of a person's internal reflection, for thinking about the most important meanings, life problems, which leads to the search for oneself and one's place in life. It is such a state of existential vacuum that makes a person work hard on himself and the situation, helping to reveal his own development resources. And then loneliness with its destructive content becomes loneliness carrying a positive potential for personality's development. It is such an aspect that should become the basis for the development of social programs that will solve the problem of loneliness with the benefit of both the individual and society.
