In the article, the phenomenon of memory is considered in the space of book culture. Special attention is paid to the autobiographical literature of the Russian diaspora in the context of historical and cultural reconstruction-the memoirs of I. Ehrenburg, G. Adamovich, the diaries and the "Wooden Book" of S. Prokofiev, as well as the ethical aspects of artistic reading of memoirs, which is due to the publication of autobiographical prose and its adaptation. An important problem is the reflection of modern readers and viewers in relation to books and films devoted to significant events in Russian history, in particular, the Great Patriotic War. Often contemporaries perceive them in the framework of the memoirs. The article presents the ratings of biographical publications, memoirs, compiled according to the results of surveys of users of literary portals. It is noted that interest in these literary genres increased significantly during the COVID-19 period.
