Statement of the problem. The philological analysis of the text Journey to Kyakhta from Krasnoyarsk, which was published in the Yenisei Almanac in 1828 by A.P. Stepanov with the letter S, was undertaken with the promising purpose of comparative analysis of another text of the 19th century Stories of a Siberian, which belonged to V.I. Sokolovsky, the nephew of A.P. Stepanov. The purpose of the article is to analyze the linguistic means of different levels that create the ideological and artistic originality of the 19th century text Journey to Kyakhta from Krasnoyarsk and determine its author’s stylistic features. Methodology (materials and methods). The study was conducted as a comprehensive philological analysis of a literary text using the method of directed sampling, the method of semantic and stylistic analysis of a literary text, the contextual method, and elements of quantitative analysis. Research results. The results of the study lead to the characteristics of the system of artistic means and techniques that form the figurative structure of the work Journey to Kyakhta from Krasnoyarsk, expressing its ideological content, the descriptive and narrative manner of the author, following the tradition of the travel genre popular in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The use of diverse vocabulary (obsolete words in relation to the modern Russian language, book vocabulary, Church Slavonicisms, geographical names) set a measured tone to the narrative. The stylistic affiliation of the text is a combination of artistic-epistolary with elements of official-business style.
