Philosophical Foundations of the Concept of Sustainable Development

The article analyzes the heuristic possibilities of the system-synergetic approach, which focuses on the study and management of nonlinear open non-equilibrium systems. At the same time, the article considers principal models of the system approach to achieving sustainable progressive development of civilization: one, developed in Russia, to some extent goes back to the Marxist methodology and philosophical concept of Vernadsky; the second model - developed in the European and Anglo-American scientific community and based on the studies of the Club of Rome and prognostic reports on the "limits of growth".
