Philosophical foundations of I.Ch. Ozerov’s views

The subject of the article is the analysis of the philosophical foundations of the economic views of a major pre-revolutionary and Soviet economist Ivan Khristoforovich Ozerov (1869-1942). In the course of the study it is noted that Ozerov’s economic views are methodologically similar to state socialism. At the same time, the author draws attention to the fact that in Ozerov’s scientific and journalistic works a significant part is occupied by the consideration of social development through the prism of institutions, which allows us to talk about the formation of methodological foundations of institutionalism in Russia in parallel with the West. It is noted that despite the material orientation of his activities, Ozerov also paid attention to the spiritual world. He has three journalistic works to his credit, in which the economist’s idealistic perception of reality is manifested. In the course of the study, the author concludes that the main philosophical basis of Ozerov’s economic views can be considered idealistic materialism.
