The article shows that it is necessary to understand the economic activities of the parish in the modern world. The paper notes that a religious person as the main part of the parish should actively manifest himself through human labour as a creative factor, overcoming the philosophy of materialism where an economic man or a consumer becomes a creator. The study addresses the works of Archpriest Sergius Bulgakov, the author of the “Philosophy of Economy”, who analyses the concepts of economy, economics, economic life, and labour from the philosophical standpoint. The article reviews the factors that effect on the human labour, i.e. the refraction of human labour through the prism of the Christian view of life and death, understanding the role of labour in relation to a man and society, the comprehension of the moral role of labour as a way of a Christian to overcome sin, and reconcile with God.
