Filtration and concentration camps for prisoners of the civil war in the north of Russia (1920-1921)

The article presents information about the conditions of so-called "Civil War captives" in the northern camps in Arkhangelsk province. The author relies primarily on the analysis of the archival documents. The filtration camps for the White Guard prisoners, concentration camps, in which were sentenced to various types of punishment, including "forced labor", were considered. They mainly contained local residents, as well as the participants in military operations and people from the south of European Russia sent to the Arkhangelsk province, who were found guilty of other forms of anti-Bolshevik activity. IInformation about the repressions in the Arkhangelsk province in 1920-1921 against the former White Guards was widely represented in emigrant sources. The situation of prisoners was monstrous, humiliating physical work was supplemented by poor food and material support, epidemic diseases raged, mass executions took place.
