The article is devoted to the connections of the decadence in Europe and the jazz age in America. The reception of A. Beardsley's graphic work in F. S. Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby is investigated. Much attention is given to grotesque in intermedia relationships of Oscar Wilde's Salome, Aubrey Beardsley's illustration and Nick Carraway's fantastic dream.
