The learning process of students in modern universities is characterized not only by a huge amount of information that needs to be assimilated in a short period of time, but also by the automation of the learning process and constant innovations in teaching methods. However, more and more time and energy is spent on learning, which leads to a decrease in physical activity in students. This raises the question of the need to take care of their health and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Physical education plays one of the main roles in this process. Lack of motor activity leads to deterioration of memory, intellectual and physical performance, as well as a decrease in immunity, which often leads to the development of infectious diseases. In addition, the lack of physical activity during the study period can lead to various diseases, including functional cardiopathy, neuroses and vegetovascular dystonia. In this paper, a study was conducted to conduct a comparative assessment of physical performance of students who do not play sports and university student-athletes. According to the results of the study to show and draw attention to the importance of physical education and sports of university students.
