The article considers some conditions that prevent the involvement of young people in sports, legal issues of self - defense and protection of personal rights, factors of recovery of an athlete after training, issues of physiological adaptive changes in martial arts at different levels of intensity of load, the cyclical nature of martial arts classes. Martial arts classes develop a number of valuable physical and moral - volitional qualities: strength, endurance, speed, agility, courage, determination, perseverance, endurance and discipline. Due to the irreplaceable volume of positive and practically directed significant qualities, martial arts are one of the most important professionally applied sports for police officers. The article defines the factors and stages that affect the preparation of an athlete. It is concluded that in order to achieve the maximum training effect, an athlete must provide a certain level of intensity in each component of training and maintain a balance of the training process and rest.
