This article is about "The physiological aspect of endurance and the importance of running for general physical fitness In sports physiology, endurance is defined as the body's ability to maintain high-intensity physical activity in conditions of aerobic energy supply. This type of performance is manifested when performing global muscle mass exercises lasting from a few minutes, when oxidative phosphorylation begins to play a leading role in energy production (ATP). The key limiting factor and objective criterion for the level of development of aerobic endurance is the indicator of maximum oxygen consumption (MPC). It reflects the integral ability of the cardiorespiratory system to deliver oxygen and the ability of muscles to utilize it. Thus, the value of the MPC sets the upper limit of the power that an athlete can develop and maintain in cyclic activities, directly determining the potential athletic performance.
