Phonetic differences between American and British English variants compared to Russian

Research relevance: this article discusses the phonetic differences between the American and British variants in Russian. Research objectives: to analyze pronunciation of sounds in American English, as well as the characteristics of their intonation and stress. All listed characteristics presented in comparison in Russian language. Research materials and methods: transcriptions and tables used to convey phonetic features in the article, and appropriate schemes used to characterize stress intonation. Research results: British is the basis of English, but even in United Kingdom, everyone speaks dialects: Irish, Welsh, Scottish. Conclusions: both countries have their own regional variants of pronunciation, the differences are mainly in the sound of vowels or stress, while in the Russian-formation system there are two degrees of word stress: primary and weak.
