Phonetic and phonemic aspects of mental lexicon in artificial bi- and multilingualism

The article investigates a specific role of phonetic and phonemic skills of an individual, who is mastering one or more foreign languages ??in conditions of artificial (school) bilingualism. The purpose is to show that the set of all bilingual’s pronunciation skills, as well as their ability to use adequately the prosodic system of languages under study on the perceptual and productive levels form a complex system that facilitates switching of codes and independent operation of each language ??represented in their mental lexicon. Pertinent examples are offered to illustrate the author’s hypotheses.
