The background knowledge as the reflection of the national specific character of the linguocultural community in the fictional text “When a crocodile eats the sun” by Peter Godwin

The article deals with the background knowledge as the reflection of the national specific features of the linguocultural community. There is developed the thesis that the verbal representatives, related to the historical events, make the content of the cultural background of the linguocultural community. There are analyzed the verbal representatives of the background knowledge in the fictional text “When a crocodile eats the sun” by Peter Godwin that fulfil the information function.
