The article considers the conditions for the formation of reading functional literacy of primary schoolchildren in the framework of distance learning. This competence should be considered as the ability to use the content to achieve life goals. The pedagogical strategy for the formation of reading functional literacy consists in the students performing the following types of practical tasks: keeping a reader's diary in an online format, writing a post on a literary topic in class social networks, creating a booktrailer.
