The article deals with the issues of the formation of the reader’s literacy of the schoolchildren as the most important component of the functional literacy. The author conducts the survey of the urgent issues, appeared during the work of the modern schoolchildren with the text, and describes the methodology of the formation of the reader’s literacy at the different stages of the educational system.
