Fostering a genealogical culture in children and youth through extracurricular activities in institutions of general education

This article addresses the issue of fostering genealogical culture in children and youth in Russia as part of extracurricular activities in general education institutions. The study of genealogy and the introduction to the younger generation can be considered as a means of educating the individual based on family values and historical memory. Currently, the relevance of this topic is unconditional and justified. Knowing the history of their family, preserving family tradition plays an important role in the formation of the worldview of the younger generation, its spiritual and moral development, strengthening of citizenship and a sense of patriotism in the society. The author suggests a program of extracurricular activities to introduce children and young people to genealogical culture through acquaintance with genealogical knowledge, the history of family origin, family traditions and family itself.
