In recent years, the issue of patriotism has become a subject of heated debate in Russian society, touching on various aspects of the states development. Opposing views exist, ranging from criticism of patriotism as a dangerous ideology bordering on extremism to calls for strengthening national unity based on patriotic values. This is confirmed by state initiatives such as the "Patriotic Education of Citizens of the Russian Federation" programs, which span various historical stages of development, and the "Concept of Patriotic Education of Citizens of the Russian Federation," which defines patriotism as commitment to ones native land, devotion to the Fatherland, a desire to promote its prosperity, and a willingness to protect it, even to the point of self-sacrifice.
