Formation of ecological and legal culture as a way to counteract environmental crime

The article is devoted to the issue of countering environmental crime through the formation of an ecological and legal culture in society as a system of values, knowledge and norms aimed at forming a responsible attitude towards the environment. Based on a review of domestic research and statistical data, the dynamics and features of environmental crimes are considered. Attention is focused on the role of the penal enforcement system in the formation of ecological and legal culture among persons convicted of crimes provided by Chapter 26 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The author comes to the conclusion that environmental education should be an integral part of the correction of those convicted of environmental crimes. The mandatory inclusion of this category of convicts in various types of environmental activities will have a positive impact on their correction.
