The formation of ethno-cultural competence in school courses of geography

The paper discusses the features of formation ethnocultural competence of pupils in school courses of geography. Given the notion of “cultural competence”, considers the ways of introduction of the ethnocultural component in the educational process, the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature on the formation of ethno-cultural competence. It is concluded that the current direction of education is the formation of moral values, interest in national culture and traditions, tolerant behavior with other cultures. The paper reveals the role of the school subject of Geography in the formation of ethnocultural competence formation, the main directions, forms and methods of formation of ethno-cultural competence of students in teaching geography.
