The social and economic structure of youth is analyzed as a basic element in the development system of modern society and state. The class structure of Russian society is considered. The place of young people in it is determined. The study reveals that youth is a reflection of social processes and transformations. The empirical research of working youth is conducted in the context of Russian social and economic structure. The paper reveals that the systemic crisis does not allow one to precisely and unambiguously evaluate its elements, and it has an impact on the youth environment. Several internal factors objectively impede the development of class identity among young citizens. In Russian social reality, there are few prerequisites for the implementation of the principle of equal opportunity. It is necessary to introduce the Federal Law on Youth and Youth Policy in the Russian Federation to enhance the field under review.
