The article addresses the problem of developing communication skills in children with intellectual disabilities in the conditions of boarding school. We have described the key stages of speech therapy, the methods and ways of logopedic rehabilitation of children. The speech therapy work proposed by teachers takes into account the correlation between the development of cognitive activity and formation of communication skills in this category of children. The presented communicative games are aimed at the development of social skills, and communicative competence in children with intellectual disabilities. The games vary depending on the stage of work and have specific purposes and objectives. We believe that development of children's ability to build up interpersonal relationships can help prevent such problems as conflicts and loneliness.
