Formation of the linguistic competence at students as a pedagogical problem

The article concerns the matter of having foreign language competence by a specialist. Forming of linguistic competence by a future specialist is provided for competent approach established by the third issue of the Federal Educational Standard of higher education of the Russian Federation. The definitions of such terms as competence, competency, foreign language competence, linguistic competence are considered in the work. The structure of linguistic competence which includes lexical, grammatical, semantic and phonological components is also under consideration.
